Department of Management, Society and Communication
My research interests are work life balance, organizational behavior, corporate communication and cultural globalization - with a focus on Japan. Through in-depth interviews (more than 250), I have studied how managers and teams cope in culturally diverse settings from headquarters to subsidiaries. The outcome is corporate cases and methods for organizing and communicating to enhance managers' and business school students’ ability to interact effectively across cultural, professional and national borders. Previous globalization projects both funded by the Danish National Strategic Research Council include ‘leadership, organization and competence’ and ‘cultural intelligence as a strategic resource in multicultural teams’. Presently, I am revisiting multinational corporations in Tokyo to update my casebook on team dynamics. The Japan Foundation supported the original research with a one-year research fellowship at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. I have also enjoyed visiting professorships at Keio and Rikkyo Universities. My upcoming collaborative project concerns team dynamics in entrepreneurial companies with focus on sustainability and work life balance.
