Globalization is a phenomenon that stirs up divergent viewpoints. Based on the book “Six faces of globalization: who wins, who loses, and why it matters” by Anthea Roberts and Nicolas Lamp, Vera Kunczer discusses how future research and policy can benefit from integrating the diverse narratives from the globalization debate. A more pluralist approach should consider multiple narratives rather than favoring one and encourage reflection on the trade-offs between economic and non-monetary goals, exploring in greater detail which goals are most relevant in which contexts. As Vera Kunczer argues, this should encourage more detailed research into how the economic progress of multinational companies interacts with issues such as geopolitical conflicts and climate change, while also reflecting on the importance of narratives in shaping policy and business environments.
