In order to obtain the PhD degree, Morten Jensen has submitted his thesis entitled:
Earnings Management in Private Firms
This dissertation investigates earnings management in private firms. The first chapter explores how firms report during financial distress. The second chapter examines causes and cost of debt consequences of a certain type of earnings management; when owner-managers shift income from salary to dividends and thereby increase reported earnings. The third chapter explores how employee traits are associated with financial reporting outcomes.
