What speech is convincing in Denmark’s only speech competition?

The art of holding a speech

CBS hosts Denmark’s only competition on holding a speech – and arguing your point, on Tuesday, December 19th 2006 from 18-20. Anne Knudsen, Naser Khader and Kell Jarner Rasmussen are the judges who decide which speech is convincing.

“Rhetoric, the art of convincing, is growing rapidly these days. There is increased focus on the importance of being able to argue your point”, says organizer Jonas Gabrielsen (post doc. at CBS) who brought the speech competition to Denmark after a visit to the States.

Who winns the first prize of DKK 5000?

6 students in the competition have finished CBS’ obligatory rhetoric course and have 5 minutes to talk about a subject of their choice: Networking, Christiania, Ungdomshuset, free newspapers, death penalty, integration… the sky is the limit.

The competition is sponsored by RHETOR. You can also hear RHETOR’s Administrative Director Jesper Troels Jørgensen’s speech: “What would Mr. Møller have said?”
