Innovation and entrepreneurship on the agenda

Over the past three years, the number of entrepreneurship students in the Øresund Region has almost doubled, and the number of entrepreneurship courses has increased by approx 50%. Those are the results of a survey recently conducted by the Øresund Entrepreneurship Academy.

Twice as many entrepreneurship students at CBS

Entrepreneurship and innovation gain ground among the students. The survey shows that the number of students enrolled on entrepreneurship courses has increased by more than 95% from 2007 to 2009. At the same time, the number of courses has increased by approx 45%.

In the 2009 autumn semester, 25 entrepreneurship courses were offered at CBS, and more than 1,000 students signed up. Compared to two years earlier, the number of students interested in entrepreneurship has increased twofold.

Bodes well for the future

- It is interesting to follow the development of courses focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation, in terms of contents as well as quantity. It bodes well for the future that the students have discovered the possibilities of education in this area, says Lene Vestergaard, Project Manager at Øresund Entrepreneurship Academy.

In 2009, 10% of the students were enrolled on an entrepreneurship course over the course of their studies. The number is well on its way to reach 15%, which is the 2015 goal of Øresund Entrepreneurship Academy. With 15% the region will have reached the international level.
