CBS kicked off the strategy discussion
Seven strategy themes
Hundreds of people were gathered at the Wedge (Kilen) on Thursday for the CBS strategy kick-off The Leadership Team introduced the seven
themes, which task forces consisting of both staff members and students are going to work on. The consulting firm McKinsey is to support the process. At the same time, the internal discussion forum dialogue.cbs.dk reopens, giving staff as well as students the opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
President Johan Roos was pleased to invite everybody to the Leadership Team's new home at the Wedge and tell them about the large-scale process that is already well underway.
He stressed that the five guiding principles are the basis of the continued strategy process and that they are reflected in the process itself. For example, it is unique to have a process involving that many people, which truly illustrates Creating Distinctiveness.
- A lot of people from the outside are very interested in learning about this process, Johan Roos said.
Necessary strategy process
Dean of Research Alan Irwin was in charge of explaining why a strategy process is necessary even though things are going pretty well at CBS:
- Three factors is in play: First of all, the landscape is changing. Nobody is standing still, and that goes for the universities too. Second, why not make changes while things are going well instead of waiting for the storm to arrive. Third, we talk a lot about diversity at CBS, but are we 100% sure that we cannot do better if we all move in the same direction?
No ready-made plan
The Dean also said that he has been asked why the Leadership Team does not just provide the staff with a ready-made plan:
- I do not think that it is the best way to go about it, and it is certainly not the CBS way, he established.
Afterwards, Dean of Education Jan Molin presented the seven themes, which can be found at dialogue.cbs.dk, where the task forces are also described in more detail.
