Professor, ekon.dr. Flemming Hansen has passed away
It was with deep sorrow that the Department of Marketing received word that Professor, ekon.dr. Flemming Hansen passed away on Wednedsay 21 July, shortly after his 72nd birthday.
Flemming was awarded an MSc degree in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School in 1962, which in 1967 also awarded him with a lic.merc. degree (PhD). In 1972, Flemming was awarded a doctoral degree in economics from Lund University. In 1977, Flemming Hansen was appointed associate professor at the Department of Marketing, where he would specialise in cognitive consumer behaviour. In 1983, he was appointed professor at the very same department. He was the head of department from 1986 to 1990.
He founded Forum for Reklameforskning, which would later become the Center for Marketing Communication, of which he was director of centre. Flemming worked as a professor in neuro economics until his death. Head of Department, Associate Professor Ricky Wilke says that Professor, ekon.dr. Flemming Hansen had a strong personality and was an entrepreneur in terms of the department as well as Danish media. He will be greatly missed.
