Support for research across country borders
Twelve million DKK will contribute to creating an even better international network between Danish and foreign researchers. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation’s new international network program has just awarded twelve million DKK to support Danish researchers who want to hold conferences with researchers from other countries or that can be used in the form of travel grants.
Two grants to CBS
From CBS, assistant professor Ravi Vatrapu from the Center for Applied Information and Communication Technology has received approximately 350,000 DKK, while associate professor Daniel Hardt from the Department of International Language Studies and Computational Linguistics has been awarded well over 100,000 DKK for a project in cooperation with researchers from USA.
One research project – five countries
Ravi Vatrapu explains that the money will be used to organise two workshops. The goal of the first workshop is to develop a proposal for a research project across country borders.
- In addition to researchers from CBS and Aalborg University, researchers from USA, India, China and Israel will participate. We will focus on 5 aspects of ICT (information and communication technology): online games, digital administration, cooperation, usability and design, says Ravi Vatrapu.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation hopes that support for the established foreign contacts and networks will lead to increased specific collaborative research, for example in the form of joint applications to Danish and foreign research agencies, across country borders.
China and USA most popular
At present, the Ministry has collaborating agreements with China, India, Israel, Japan, and USA. The networking activities with USA and China account for the largest part of the awarded projects: 48% and 27% of the awards respectively have gone to researchers from Danish universities that want to investigate the possibilities for working more closely together with American and Chinese researchers.
