Summertime is exam time

Right now 1,517 Danish and foreign students are roaming the halls at CBS. They are participating in the International Summer University Programme, ISUP.

Summer University – a popular activity

The International Office is extremely content with this year’s academic summer programme, which has attracted 22 % more students compared to last year. It is the international students in particular who have really gotten their eyes open to the combination of vacation and studying. This year the number of international students has increased by 28 % compared to 2009.

- With 63 academic courses, the programme is larger and more extensive than ever, and we have been successful in attracting students and lecturers from both CBS and the best partner universities, says Anders Hiort Hansen, ISUP Programme Coordinator.

For some students it is necessary - for others ’just’ nice

The large number of summer students all have different reasons for spending the hot summer days on the six-week courses. Victoria Rosenstock, who has just completed her BSc in Business Administration and Organisational Communication, sees Summer University as a shorter bridge between two completely different disciplines.

- I am going to start studying Finance and Strategic Management in September, which is why I have chosen to spend this summer studying two finance courses which hopefully will prepare me for the disciplines in my future degree programme, says Victoria Rosenstock during her short break between the lectures in Investments Analysis and Corporate Finance.

Summer school makes it possible to go abroad and study

For Jeanne Schultz, an MSc student in Business Administration and Organisational Communication, Summer University means that she will be able to live out her dream of an internship abroad this autumn without getting behind. According to Jeanne Schultz, not all students need the ECTS credits like she does.

- In my class, several foreign students have come to CBS just to find inspiration for their master’s theses, she says.

This week the intensive courses are replaced by exams. The ISUP students will then be able to relax before the autumn semester begins.
