Danish textbook award to BSc lecturers
Lærebogsprisen 2010 (Danish textbook award) goes to no fewer than 15 authors, all affiliated with the Department of Organization. They have a great idea for an organisation analysis textbook, which will fill out a huge gap in organisation literature.
Unnecessary trouble for the students
Most courses in organisational theory are about understanding what others have concluded on the topic. In Denmark, the students often prepare actual analyses of organisations, which is exciting to do, but it also causes plenty of unnecessary trouble for the students,
as it is required that the students know how to proceed from having the general knowledge that the books provide to select a few concepts for making an analysis. This book will illustrate how they pick out the best concepts, and thereby create focus in their analysis, says Associate Professor Christian Frankel,
who is editing the book together with Professor Kjeld Schmidt. Just like the other contributors, they have been teaching organisational analysis to BSc students at CBS for years.
The good idea is rewarded
The publisher Samfundslitteratur is behind this prize granted to books, which have not yet been written. The emphasis is in fact placed on the good idea, when the winner is appointed.
The jury attaches importance to the fact that the book "pedagocially demonstrates how organisational theory can be used in practice to analyse organisational problems. This book has been long awaited, it is a supplement to the organisational theory textbooks. It fills a gap in the literature and is based on a serious need in many programmes."
The book will be published by Samfundslitteratur in 2011.
The prize will be awarded at BogForum (book fair) on 13 November at 16:00, at Samfundslitteratur's stall.
