Kick-starting new partnership
Funding to joint initiatives announced by Sauder School of Business and Copenhagen Business School
The Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia and the Copenhagen Business School will strengthen their strategic partnership by creating a $400,000 fund to support collaboration. The new money, contributed equally by both institutions, is the first installment to the fund targeted at jump starting joint research and teaching initiatives at the schools.
Monetary support
This announcement follows the signing of a partnership agreement between Sauder and CBS in June in Copenhagen, which identified areas of intended collaboration, including curricula development, the delivery of executive education, faculty research, doctoral supervision and the development of new teaching and learning platforms.
- Sauder is extremely pleased to build on our already fruitful partnership with CBS by providing the monetary support it needs to flourish, said Daniel Muzyka, dean of the Sauder School of Business.
- This fund will further enable the free flow of ideas between Sauder and one of Europe’s key business schools, moving us closer to our goal of becoming a global centre of excellence for business research and teaching.
European Exchange Initiative
As the first initiative under the new alliance, a group of students from Sauder’s EMBA in Health Care traveled to Copenhagen from August 21 to 26 to take part in the Sauder-CBS EMBA in Health Care European Exchange Initiative. Participants were provided with an intensive program of on-site lectures and gained a working knowledge of Danish health care delivery systems, policies and management styles, which are facing many of the same challenges as British Columbia.
- Our collaboration with Sauder is a strategic priority for CBS and we see the new fund as a significant step in developing our partnership, said Alan Irwin, acting president and dean of research at the Copenhagen School of Business.- The fund accelerates and simplifies the movement of people, and will generate new research and the exchange of knowledge. We are confident that this will further enhance learning to benefit students in Denmark and British Columbia.
The strategic alliance Building on an active 16-year exchange partnership, the strategic alliance between Sauder and CBS is motivated by shared values and a similar academic culture. Having mutual interests in the development of innovative business models, the schools are working together across a range of emerging disciplines, including the integration of business and design principles, creative enterprise development and sustainable business. |
