Per Holten-Andersen appointed new president of CBS

On January 1, 2012 Per Holten-Andersen, Dean at the University of Copenhagen will take on the position of President of CBS.

Per Holten-Andersen was Rector of the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (KVL) from 2002 to 2006. In 2007 KVL merged with the University of Copenhagen (KU), and Per Holten-Andersen became Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences (KU-LIFE).

The CBS Board of Directors is pleased with the many applications submitted for the position of president. Following a thorough assessment, the Assessment Committee decided to recommend Per Holten-Andersen for the position of President of CBS. The Board of Directors unanimously concurred with the recommendation.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Peter Schütze, says:

- The Board of Directors would like to warmly welcome and congratulate Per Holten-Andersen. The Board looks forward to working with Per Holten-Andersen, who will now be President of one of Europe’s foremost business-oriented universities. In the same vein, we would like to express our gratitude to Acting President Alan Irwin, who undertook the position of President in trying times while also serving as Dean of Research.

In the appointment of Per Holten-Andersen, the Board of Directors has emphasized his extensive experience with university management as Rector of KVL and Dean at KU, as well as his insight into the world of higher education and his career and results as head of a large education and research institution.

Per Holten-Andersen looks forward to take on the position as President of CBS. He already has ties to CBS through his education as well as his experience through years of collaboration:

 - As Rector and Dean of KVL/KU-LIFE, I have seen increasing cooperation over the years with LIFE’s nearest university neighbour: CBS. I am impressed by CBS’ international outlook and disciplinary diversity. I look forward to getting to know the education and research environments even better, and embarking on further developing education and research in collaboration with the students and staff at CBS.
