"Research in the creative and cultural industries: some current issues".
David Throsby is Distinguished Professor of Economics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. He is internationally recognised for his research and writing on the economics of art and culture. His current research interests include the economic circumstances of artists, culture in economic development, heritage economics, the creative economy and the relationships between economic and cultural policy.
He has been a frequent consultant for international organisations, including UNESCO, UNCTAD, OECD and the World Bank. His book Economics and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2001) has been translated into seven languages, and his new book The Economics of Cultural Policy was published in 2010, also by Cambridge University Press. David Throsby co-edited Beyond Price: Value in Culture, Economics and the Arts (2008) with Michael Hutter, also for Cambridge, and he is currently working on a second volume of the Handbook of the Economics of Art and Culture (Elsevier/North Holland), co-edited with Victor Ginsburgh.
