Efter eksamen som akademiingeniør i kemi afsluttede Adam Lindgreen eksamen som civilingeniør i fødevarevidenskab og –teknologi på Danmarks tekniske Universitet. Han studerede da kemi og fysik på Københavns Universitet, hvorefter han underviste i gymnasiet (kemi, matematik og naturvidenskab) på Herlufsholm og Sorø Akademi. Han afsluttede efterfølgende en MBA på University of Leicester. Adam Lindgreen modtog sin Ph.d. i marketing fra Cranfield University. Hans første akademiske stillinger var på Université catholique de Louvain og Eindhoven technische Universiteit. Hans første stilling som professor var i afsætningsøkonomi på Hull University’s Business School (2007-2010); senere var han professor—også i afsætningsøkonomi—på Birmingham University’s Business School (2010), hvor han også var instituttet for afsætningsøkonomi og strategi’s forskningsdirektør. Derefter udnævntes Adam Lindgreen til professor i afsætningsøkonomi på University of Cardiff’s Business School (2011-2016), hvor instituttet under hans ledelse blev rangeret først blandt alle afsætningsøkonomiske institutter i Australien, Canada, New Zealand, Storbritannien og USA baseret på hg indeks for ’senior faculty members’. Siden 2016 har Adam Lindgreen været professor i afsætningsøkonomi på Copenhagen Business School og leder af Institut for Afsætningsøkonomi.
Adam Lindgreen har været ‘visiting professor’ (eller lignende) ved en række universiteter, herunder Auckland University, Auckland University of Technology, BEM Bordeaux Management School, Bradford University’s Business School, Georgia State University, Groupe HEC, Harper Adams University College, IESEG School of Management, Melbourne University, Monash University, RMIT University, University of Lincoln’s Business School og University of Northumbria’s Business School.
Siden 2017 har Adam Lindgreen været medlem af Academic Journal Guide’s (AJG) videnskabelige komité inden for afsætningsøkonomi. Siden 2016 har han været medlem af New Zealand Food Safety Science and Research Center’s International Scientific Advisory Panel.
Professor Lindgreens forskningsinteresser omfatter business-to-business marketing, corporate social responsibility og relationsmarkedsføring. Hans publikationer er trykt i Business Horizons, California Management Review, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Management Reviews, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business og Industrial Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing of Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of World Business, Psychology & Marketing og endelig Supply Chain Management: An International Journal.
Hans seneste bøger omfatter A Stakeholder Approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (2012, med Kotler, Maon, Vanhamme) og Sustainable Value Chain Management (2013, med Maon, Sen, Vanhamme). Andre bøger omfatter A Stakeholder Approach to Managing Food (2017), Managing Market Relationships (2008), Market Orientation (2010), Memorable Customer Experiences (2009), The Crisis of Food Brands (2009) og The New Cultures of Foods (2009).
Adam Lindgreen modtog ”Outstanding Article 2005” fra Industrial Marketing Management og var ’runner-up’ til samme pris i 2006. Han sidder i flere tidsskrifters redaktionskomiteer og er medredaktør af Industrial Marketing Management og var tidligere redaktør af Journal of Business Ethics’ sektion om corporate social responsibility. Adam Lindgreen er blevet tildelt dekanens Award for Excellence in Executive Education på Cardiff University’s Business School.
I sin fritid har Adam Lindgreen opdaget og udgravet bosættelser fra stenalderen i Danmark, herunder en bosættelse i Udstolpe og den eneste store køkkenmødding—Sparregård—i det sydøstlige Danmark. På grund af dens betydning blev køkkenmøddingen senere udgravet af Nationalmuseet og derefter beskyttet som et historisk monument for eftertiden. Han er også en ivrig slægtsforsker, der har sporet sin familie tilbage til ca. 1390 og har udgivet syv bøger og adskillige videnskabelige artikler (Personalhistorisk Tidsskrift, The Genealogist, Slægt og Data) omhandlende metodiske problemstillinger inden for slægtsforskning, større populationsundersøgelser og endelig specifikke familielinjer.
