Each year the board of Reinholdt W. Jorcks og Hustru's foundation gives grants of DKK 200,000 each to young researchers. According to the foundation, the purpose is to advance the skills of these impecunious and hardworking people. This year two prizes have gone to CBS researchers, and one CBS PhD student has received the foundation's travelling scholarship. The prizes are a recognition of the recipients' research and teaching, and an encouragement for further research. Per Holten-Andersen, President, is pleased about the prizes.
- It is inspiring to see the wide range of talent among our young researchers. The three recipients have earned this honour, and we look forward to following them in the years to come, says Per Holten-Andersen.
The three CBS recipients of the grants and scholarship from the Jorck foundation are:
Steffen Andersen
Steffen Andersen, Professor at the Department of Finance, has received a prize for his work in economy and finance. His method is to observe behaviour and choices in individuals or markets through both designed field experiments and natural experiments.
Steffen has built a big international network of collaboration partners in the areas of experimental, behavioural and household economy and finance through his stays at top universities such as Stanford University, University of Chicago, etc. This has given him the idea to build a strong network for young Danish researchers in Household Finance, which is why Steffen wants to use the prize money to support short research visits at CBS by foreign researchers, so that Danish researchers in the field will have the opportunity to join and build unique international networks early on in their careers.
Christian Geisler Asmussen
Christian Geisler Asmussen, Professor at the Department of Strategic Management and Globalization, has received a prize for his research effort in the area of international strategy and business management, which is a highly recognised area in the world of international research. Christian has several top publications on his CV and has received a number of prizes and recognitions for his work. What makes Christian's research unique is his use of mathematical modelling and game theory to illustrate managerial problems.
Through his career Christian has had several stays abroad, which has contributed significantly to his research in the form of inspiration, access to collaboration partners and strong international networks. To further boost his research production, Christian wants to use the prize money to fund a research stay at a US top university.
Niels Joachim Gormsen (travelling scholarship):
Niels Joachim Gormsen, PhD student, received the foundation's travelling scholarship for a stay at Harvard University. Niels Joachim will have the exclusive honour of visiting Professor John Y. Campbell, a great name at Harvard's Economics Department. Niels Joachim is rewarded for his extraordinary potential as a researcher in finance. He is already involved in several research projects, which is quite an achievement so early in a research career.
The prizes will be presented by the Chairman of the foundation, Poul Søgaard, President of the Danish Supreme Court, on Monday 14 December at 15:00 at the Supreme Court.
