Are you Carbon and Climate Literate? Do you have the understanding and motivation to take action on climate change?

If unsure, then we invite you to take the 8 hour Carbon and Climate Literacy and Action workshop.  

Governments across the world are declaring a Climate emergency, corporate standards and reporting are increasingly targeting carbon and climate action on company level and rapid action is required to meet all targets. The Carbon and Climate Literacy and Action Workshops are free 8 hour seminars developed by the PRME Working Group for Climate Change and Environment and delivered by CBS Green Office. Both students and faculty and university staff are welcome to join the dedicated workshop. Participants in the workshops are eligible to receive an internationally recognized Carbon Literacy Certificate, issued by the Carbon Literacy Trust.

Do you want to know how biodiversity and business are related? Would you like to have the basic literacy on biodiversity issues and how you can take action on biodiversity loss? 

Green office is developing a Biodiversity Literacy information deck along with delivery workshops for CBS faculty to include biodiversity topics withing their own courses and curricula.  

A working group on Biodiversity Literacy has contributed to the development of a 45 minute slide deck which will be made available to all CBS faculty along with Teaching notes and instructions.  

The deck will continuously be developed and constitute the basis for the development of the Biodiversity Literacy and Action workshop and module.

This minor allows students to critically interrogate and reimagine the foundations and organizing practices of today’s global economy. It provides the students with tools to understand and analyze the ongoing major societal and economic challenges and to explore transformative and sustainable alternatives. The minor takes a holistic view of sustainability and argues that in order to build sustainable and socially just economies, we need to take a broader look at how business and organizational practices are embedded in societal structures. This will provide students with the tools they need to become conscious entrepreneurs, innovators, managers and change-makers – be it through business, non-profit organizations, or the implementation of innovative and transformative ideas in the realm of local, national or supra-national political and economic institutions.

This minor is designed to immerse students into the global sustainability challenges embarked upon by institutional investors, investment firms and innovative companies, to develop strategy, management systems, metrics, data quality and ESG reporting. Students will gain a sound theoretical understanding in the area if ESG accounting and reporting together with technical understanding that will equip students to understand, among other things; carbon accounting, materiality matrixes and voluntary versus mandatory ESG disclosures. Students will also  gain first hand knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable and responsible investments. Still further the minor includes an applied course where students will be presented cutting edge case-studies allowing for theoretical understanding to be applied to real life cases.

Sustainability is receiving increasing attention as a societal issue and a rapidly growing number of companies now recognize it as a major driver of competitiveness. Yet sustainability is not a simple concept, nor is it straightforward to translate sustainable business practice into attractive business models. At the root of the issue is the fact that sustainability is a systemic phenomenon – to assess whether a particular product, service, or business practice is “sustainable” requires consideration of how it fits into a larger system of production of raw materials and components, manufacturing, distribution, usage, and, ultimately, disposal. Moreover, sustainability involves not only environmental issues but also social and economic sustainability.

To turn sustainability into an effective business driver, companies must development of a clear business case for it and it must become part of the core business functions. Moreover, since the issues transcend internal and external company borders, the firm must develop effective means of communicating with and involving multiple stakeholders. The purpose of this minor is to equip you with theories, concepts, and methods to develop effective sustainable business strategies.
