Professor of Finance Ken Bechmann appointed Senior Fellow at the HEA
Ken Bechmann, Professor at the Department of Finance, has been appointed Senior Fellow at The British Higher Education Academy (HEA).
The British Higher Education Academy (HEA) is an accreditation body with an internationally acclaimed framework for benchmarking success within higher education teaching. While it emerged in a UK context, it is currently spreading to universities worldwide and awards badges of quality within one of the four categories of HEA Fellowship; Associate Fellowship, Fellowship, Senior Fellowship or Principal Fellowship.
The status of HEA Senior Fellow is highly prestigious, as indicated by the membership numbers. There are at present 126,770 fellows (worldwide across all 4 categories). Only around 9% of all 126,770 fellows are accredited at Senior Fellow level, of which only 5 are currently based in Danish institutions (all at CBS). Senior Fellowship is awarded to professionals who demonstrate they meet the criteria of Descriptor 3 (D3) of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education.
Having staff members with a SFHEA certification at CBS implies having certified role models at senior level who commit to not only developing own teaching practice but also the teaching practice of other faculty members. This certification highlights a way to recognize success within higher education teaching and learning support.
