Martin Helweg-Ovesen holds an MSc from 2001 in Economics from the University of Copenhagen (cand.polit.). After a successful practical career, Martin completed two years of Actuarial Mathematics at the University of Copenhagen as a full-time student from 2019 to 2021. Besides teaching at the Copenhagen Business School, he is currently preparing a PhD in Corporate Finance.
His academic interests include Corporate Finance, Industrial Organization, Game Theory, Econometrics and Mathematics.
Martin has practical experience as an analyst and investment practitioner.
His career began with analytical work at the Danish Economic Council, the Danish Economic Council of the Labour Movement, the Danish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Danske Bank.
Subsequently, he worked with Corporate Finance, real estate redevelopment and private equity. He helped start a real estate subsidiary of Saxo Bank in 2010 and completed a string of highly successful inner Copenhagen real estate redevelopment projects at Abrdn from 2013 to 2019.
Returning from academic studies at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Copenhagen, he was part of a private equity start-up, Aaxman Capital A/S, from 2022 to 2023.
Besides teaching part time at the Copenhagen Business School, Martin is studying advanced mathematical-economics, econometrics, and mathematics at the University of Copenhagen in preparation of the contemplated PhD.
Martin is serving as teaching assistant of Corporate Finance and as advisor of second year Corporate Finance projects at the Copenhagen Business School.
He has previously taught introductory micro and macroeconomics at the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen.
