For many years, Lars Håkanson’s research and consulting activities centered on problems concerning the international management of technology and R&D and on the management of post-merger integration processes; more lately, his research has focused on the role of epistemic communities in the development of firms, industries and regions, and on the formation and effects of mangers’ perceptions of ‘psychic distances’ to other countries. His current research centers on innovation and patenting in the global pharmaceutical industry. His teaching focuses on these and other questions relating to international strategy, organization, and entrepreneurship.
