The 2010 European Conference on Object Oriented Programming[http://ecoop2010.uni-mb.si/] hosts a tutorial and paper by Rasmus Pedersen (Embedded Software Laboratory), Eric Arsenau (Sun Research Labs), and Eric Jul (Bell Labs).

The topics are:

  • Embedded systems and object oriented programming is fundamental to new areas.

  • LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT[https://nxtsquawk.dev.java.net/] is a new affordable platform destined to be the defacto platform for embedded systems programming.

  • Java is a very popular programming language and Squawk[https://squawk.dev.java.net/] is Sun’s (Oracle) answer to object oriented embedded programming.

Rasmus Ulslev Pedersen is a member of the prestigious LEGO MINDSTORMS Community Partner program and is the first researcher to provide an open source toolchain to the micro processor in NXT. Eric Arsenau is principal investigator for the Sun Squawk embedded Java project.
