PhD defence: Ditte Thøgersen
In recent decades there has been a call for the public sector to be more innovative. Prior research has examined the distinguishing features of public innovation, and this dissertation contributes to this field with an examination of how frontline managers interpret and navigate demands for innovation during everyday practices. One quantitative study was conducted based on data covering the entire Danish public sector, after which two case studies were built from interviews and observations in Danish public childcare organizations. The theoretical interest of the thesis is founded on Scandinavian institutionalism and the concept of translation specifically.
