Lecture with Chinese Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Mr. Zhen Jianguo

Since the beginning of the reform period in early 1979 China has experienced sustained rapid economic growth. During the same time there has been considerable political reform. Recently President Hu Jintao took over the Chairmanship of the Military Commission and China completed its peaceful and orderly transition to a new generation of political leaders. Ambassador Zhen Jianguo will talk about these important changes and their implications for China’s role in the world. He will also provide an overview of Danish-Chinese relations and discuss the prospects and perspectives of Sino-Danish Economic and Trade Cooperation. This will be partly based on Ambassador Zhen Jianguo’s own experiences over a period of more than thirty years since he first worked in the Chinese Embassy in Denmark in the early 1970s.

The lecture is the first lecture in the planned Ambassadors’ Lecture Series in Asian Studies.
