Conference on changing grocery trade

Leading grocery trade groups are in a hard elimination race and there are signs that customer behaviour and shopping habits are changing. In cooperation with Berlingske, CBS invites you to a conference where you can learn more about a changing industry.

14/11/2014

- The competitive environment for the grocery trade market is shifting and the underlying business models are under great pressure says Mogens Bjerre, Associate Professor at the Department of Marketing.

He will moderate the conference Opbrud i dagligvarehandlen – Koden til kunderne (Change in the grocery trade – The code to the customers) which CBS is hosting in cooperation with Berlingske on 25 November.

The event offers insight into international trends in the grocery trade market, changes in consumers' quality demands, food e-trade and niche concepts for groceries.

Business models under pressure
- I look forward to presentations on existing business models and the visions our speakers will present with regard to resisting the pressure on these models. I am also looking forward to hearing about the challenges in keeping up with the customers' new ways of using the grocery trade industry, says Mogens Bjerre.

Several prominent speakers will be participating at the conference, e.g. Colm O’Brien, CEO of Global Retail Industry at IBM and former Supply Chain & Replenishment Director at grocery trade giant Tesco in Ireland.

Dan Jørgensen, Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, will also participate at the conference and join a debate on the so-called meal think tank which Torben Hansen, Professor of consumer behaviour at CBS, is a member of.

The conference is primarily in Danish.
