The Financial Times has published its 2022 Executive MBA ranking, revealing that the CBS Executive MBA is yet again among the world’s best 100 EMBA programmes. The programme climbed four places compared to 2021 and is now ranked #62 globally.

Executive MBA programmes worldwide have seen a rapid growth (68% over the past decade, according to AACSB International) to meet the increasing demand of higher education for business leaders and the Financial Times EMBA ranking is a valuable tool to compare and contrast the world’s top-tier programmes.

In terms of the international experience rank of the Executive MBA programmes, the CBS EMBA jumps to a highly notable rank of #12 globally and the average salary increase sees the CBS EMBA graduates with an impressive 42% boost on average at three years after graduation. The largest ranking criteria points are earned from the average salary, the salary increase, careers progress, work experience, aims achieved, female faculty, female students, and more. “Our Executive MBA programme has adapted quickly in response to turbulent global realities. We cater to executive professionals that recognise the importance of lifelong learning and the need to establish a reliable and diversified network” says Poul Hedegaard, MBA Director at CBS. “When it comes to ‘International Experience’, the CBS EMBA sits at an impressive #12 globally; this global outlook is essential and paramount for business leaders to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

The International Experience rank is based on the percentage of classroom teaching hours that were conducted outside the location in which the business school is situated. In-person and virtual experiences are included. The CBS EMBA programme consists of travelling to five other countries for an enhanced learning experience, where pandemic restrictions do not interfere.

“It is getting more and more competitive to secure a seat in our programme” says Lone Ryevad Boysen, the Executive MBA Admissions Manager. “When it comes to ‘Work Experience,’ the CBS EMBA is ranked #9 globally. While this is a significant rank to celebrate, we are finding that we have to waitlist high-calibre candidates and this credits the fact that each cohort is exceptional.”

The Work Experience rank is a measure of the pre-EMBA experience of alumni according to the seniority of positions held, number of years in each position, organisation size and overseas work experience.

Another area where the CBS EMBA performed well in the ranking criteria was ‘Research Rank’ sitting at #32 globally and this is calculated based on the number of faculty articles published in respected academic journals.

“CBS faculty are at the forefront of international research, the FT ranking confirms. Being exposed to the latest academic insights from CBS faculty, students enrich their toolbox with cutting-edge knowledge,” says Jesper Rangvid, Associate Dean of the Executive MBA and Finance Professor.

CBS has two intake periods for the Executive MBA (September and May) and the commitment is on average four days a month. There are two EMBA paths offered simultaneously - participants choose to earn their EMBA either in one go over a fixed period of two years or through the stepwise approach via four Certificates where you are allowed to stretch the studies over a five year period. In addition to the core learning track of the EMAB programme, participants can further customise their educational journey by choosing from one of the four concentrations which are: Finance, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship, and Governance & Sustainability.

This year, the CBS EMBA is adding supply chain management as a mandatory course.

“The pandemic and the war in Ukraine has highlighted the importance of supply chains for firms and societies at large. This includes cost-efficiency but also risk management of supply chains – what to do if supply-chains are impaired? Furthermore, firms need to analyse the environmental and broader sustainability impact of their supply chains. The course will deal with these and related topics,” says Jesper Rangvid.
