“Open Deliberation: On the Way to Sustainable Management”
Paper presented at the IFSAM conference,
“Justice and Sustainability in the Global Economy”, July 2010
Discussant: Bent Meier Sørensen
Professor at the Dep. of Management, Politics and Philosophy
Excerpts from the introduction to the paper:
Certain management methods have recently come under attack for being barbaric, involving ill-treatment and harassment, which undermine employees and affect their physical, mental and psychic health. Such observations have become a more general topical issue, even a political concern […] The question of the impact of management methods on employees is the manager’s responsibility to his/her team members. It is for this very reason that we believe that any rethinking of management methods should include an ethical dimension: for the purpose of ethics is to act for the greater good […] By proposing sustainable management through open deliberation we will be offering both a new basis for management rooted in ethical behavior […] a management method that does not drain ‘human resources’ and which is therefore sustainable.
Arranged by CBS Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Registration is not necessary.
