Webinar on Combatting Counterfeit Medicines – Key Challenges

On August 24 2020 a webinar entitled ’Combatting Counterfeit Medicines – Key Challenges’ was held at CBS LAW. The webinar was organized and moderated by Assistant Professor Vishv Priya Kohli.
The panel of experts included Mr. Mickey Arieli, Founder of the National Enforcement Division, Israel,
Mr. Di Giorgio Domenico, Director of the Counterfeit Prevention Unit, AIFA, Italy and
Advocate Sara Sparring, Chairperson of the SACG, Sweden.

The participants comprised of scholars, representatives of enforcement authorities and pharmaceutical companies from different countries such as Brazil, Japan, Belgium, France, the UK, Sweden, the US, Denmark and Australia.
The webinar explored the challenges confronting us in combatting counterfeit medicines and the escalation in the times of COVID 19 with reference to increase in sale of counterfeit masks, falsified hand sanitizers and flu medications.

The experts shared specific examples from Israel, Italy and Sweden on how the enforcement authorities are addressing the issue and also deliberated on what needs to be done.
