Under Deconstruction: How American are the Americans?

- from Juli 13th - 27th, Center for the Study of the Americas at Graz University in Austria hosted a summercourse in American Studies. Edward Ashbee from the Center for the Study of the Americas at CBS, taught 35 international students about American Identities and Immigration.

The purpose of the course was to initiate a discussion about the local and global societies call for a re-definition of the term 'America' and 'American' and their role in a globalized world. Focus was not only on the US but also on Canada and Latinamerica and their role in re-defining 'America'.

Edward Ashbee from CBS' Center for the Study of the Americas taught American Identities and Immigration for four days. Furthermore the summer course offered courses in Politics, Law and History, Cultural Sociology, The Americas - complex Identities, Poetry, Fiction and Drama, and Film and Visual Arts. 35 international students, including one from CBS, participated in the course which was held at the Segau Castle 40 km south of Graz in one of Austria's best known wine districts.
