Trump 2.0 - Taking Stock of the First Months of the Trump Administration
CBS Library invites everyone to join us for an interesting afternoon in the company of Professor MSO Eddie Ashbee.
Trump 2.0 is still in its early days and weeks. Nonetheless, amidst intense drama, established domestic and foreign policies have already been upended.
Many commentators feel that the post-1945 global order has now collapsed, and the countries of Europe face the prospect of building their own security capabilities. On top of this, and after some false starts, the Trump administration has turned to protectionism. It appears to treat allies and friends as enemies and enemies as allies and friends.
All the old certainties, which just about survived Trump 1.0, now have to be abandoned. And, of course, Trump’s efforts to secure Greenland for the US have put Denmark in the crosshairs.
Is all this simply impetuosity? Or showmanship and performativity? Is there a method in the apparent madness?
Eddie Ashbee will consider the current state of US foreign policy and seek to address these questions in this follow-up to his last talk on the 2024 US presidential election.
Eddie Ashbee is professor MSO and directs the MSc in Public Management and Social Development at the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research and is the author of a recently published study of “deglobalization”.
