Cybersecurity Postdoc

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Postdoc in Supply Chain Cybersecurity at the Department of Digitalization.

The post doc position is part of the research project ‘Cybersecurity of Supply Chains: Creating Actionable Guidance for Danish SMEs’ established for the duration of two years in September 2023. With the kind support of Industriens Fond, we are researching why SMEs struggle to improve their cybersecurity and how we can help by creating tools that will make it easier for them, especially now that many of them will have to comply with the new rules of the NIS 2 Directive or face pressure to demonstrate their cyber maturity from supply chain partners.

Our goal is to establish a comprehensive understanding of how cybersecurity is handled along the supply chain by using a dual approach: on the one hand, we work with 25 case companies that are Danish SMEs and have been selected to represent the industrial and geographic diversity in Denmark. On the other hand, we run confidential sessions with CISOs and other experts from larger companies to understand how they judge the cybersecurity of their suppliers and how they work to improve it. We are now using the insights gathered in the first year to create practical guidelines and novel electronic tools that help SMEs assess and manage the cyber risks in their supply chain, as well as document the process to regulators.

Due to the existing postholder taking up an academic appointment elsewhere we are now looking for a new post-doc for the remaining year of our project ‘Cybersecurity of Supply Chains: Creating Actionable Guidance for Danish SMEs’.

The role

The post-doc will be involved in all aspects of the project, but the primary responsibility will be to

 - Run the communications with our SME case companies, conduct site visits and follow-up meetings, and arrange sessions where they can try out our new tools and provide feedback.

 - Update and translate content for our (soon to be launched) bilingual website. For this reason, good oral and written skills in Danish are particularly desirable for us.

 - Participate in dissemination activities in Denmark and abroad.

 - Conduct academic research and actively participate in our efforts to create publications based on the data and insights we have gathered.

The Postdoc is a non-tenured position for a one-year period with research obligation.

The post-doc will have their own office at the Department of Digitalization.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.

Qualifications

The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential.

Emphasis is placed on research relevant to the job description so a strong interest in or experience with Cybersecurity, SMEs or problems of the (digital) supply chain would be desirable.

Given the communication tasks of the role we are also looking for excellent written and oral communication skills in Danish and English.

Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research programmes. Candidates who wish to join us should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organisation of this type (highlighting, for example, relevant business, educational and dissemination activities).
