John F. Wilson (b. 1955) BA, PhD,is fellow of the Royal Historical Society and Professor and University Director of Research, University of

Central Lancashire. John Wilson is one of the most influential and important European business historians. He has organised international conferences and he is chief editor of the international journal Business History and board member of European Business History Association (EBHA).

Among his most important publications is the well known book British Business History, 1720-1994 (Manchester University Press, 1995) (a Japanese translation has recently been published) and the management history book British Management in Historical Perspective (Oxford University Press, 2007) plus a number of international journal articles such as ‘Scale, scope and accountability: towards a new paradigm in British business history’, (Business History, 2003) and ‘Business networking in the industrial revolution: some comments’ [with Andrew Popp], (Economic History Review, 2003).
