The purpose of this conference is to present diverse views on the present situation, major issues and future prospects for Latin America in a globalized world. A variety of views will be sought reflecting Latin America, the United States, and Europe as well as special attention to the emerging role of China. The conference will also focus on problems created by globalization, including crime and environmental issues. A publication will result from these sessions. Registration - see below.

Mr. T. Shannon Stiles,Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Webster

University and a Board Member of the Council on Foreign Relations,

St. Louis Committee.He specializes in Central American security issues, US.

Threats to the Environment –

Dr Juan Facetti, former Minister of the Environment

and Advisor to the Vice President of Paraguay.

He served on the OAS Mission to Haiti, as advisor to Ecuador's

Constituent Assembly, and with the United Nations in Vienna, Paraguay.
