France in the new Europe

Guest Lecture by research director Christian Lequesne, Centre d´Études et de Recherches Internationales (CERI) / SciencesPo, Paris.

Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 14:00 to 16:00

In the last 20 years the European Union has in many respects become a project that is far away from the one created by its founding fathers. How does France relate to this new Europe?

As a careful observer not only of France’s European policy but also of European institutions, policies and enlargements, Christian Lequesne analyses why France, its political élite, and its society have difficulties conceiving of their role in the enlarged EU, as well as thinking positively of globalization.

Christian Lequesne’s lecture will be held in English based on his newly published book: “La France dans la nouvelle Europe”, Presses de SciencesPo, Paris 2008.
