IVS Seminar

Seminar with Anthony Warren on innovation networks

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 - 10:30 to 11:30

Seminar with
Anthony Warren, Penn State University.

Innovation Networks.

Abstract:

This seminar will cover three topics related to the broad area of innovation networks in different environments.

First, Barabasi’s work on scale-free networks will be briefly reviewed, particularly the importance of preferential attachment to nodes in developing strong relationships.

Second, Professor Warren will report briefly on work from his Research Center which is mapping the field of innovation research using bibliometric analytical techniques. These show how meaning of the term “innovation” changes over time, how and where the “sub-networks” of researchers overlap and where new areas for research may be emerging.

Finally, Professor Warren will briefly present his research on the location effect of technology transfer effectiveness and how innovation networks may be valuable in improving the overall process.
