Sustainable Value Innovation in Mobility

How should the automobile industry overcome the challenges and develop sustainable value? Renato J. Orsato, INSEAD, auhtor of amongst "Sustainable Strategies: When does it pay to be green?” will share his views.

This seminar will focus on the roots of the problems currently faced by the auto industry, and the alternatives the sector has to overcome them by developing Sustainable Value Innovation – the creation of differentiated value for customers and contribution to society at both, reduced costs and environmental impacts.

Renato J. Orsato is Senior Research Fellow at the INSEAD Social Innovation Centre, Fontainebleau, France. Formerly, he has been Professor at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics, at Lund University, Sweden, and at the Graduate School of Business, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. Renato holds a PhD in Management, a Masters in Organization Studies and Honors degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Administration, and has 15 years of consulting experience with private and public organizations in Brazil, his home-country, as well as in the European and Australasian regions. His recent book, “Sustainable Strategies: When does it pay to be green?” focuses on the business rationales for sustainability strategies with particular focus on the troubled global auto industry. Based on both theory development and empirical research, it clarifies the elements involved in the formation and evaluation of sustainability strategies in firms, helping managers to prioritize eco-investments and transform them into sources of competitive advantage and new market spaces.
