Particularly, Andreas Rasche will consider the institutional context and constraints of the Global Compact as a UN-backed initiative. The discussion is structured around three main issue areas: (1) a retrospective assessment of achievements and problems of the Global Compact, (2) a prospective view into the future and discussion of needed institutional reforms in light of balancing quantitative growth in terms of participants with the quality of their engagement, and (3) a reflection of the current context in which the Global Compact operates, particularly considering the challenges created by the recent economic downturn. In light of these remarks, participants are invited to discuss the last ten years of the UN Global Compact.
