Two new honorary doctorates on CBS

CBS appoints Walter W. Powell Honorary Doctorate in Economics and Business Administration and Professor Emerita Barbara H. Partee Honorary Doctorate in Language Research on 11 March 2005.

Barbara Partee

The main focus of Partee's recent and current research, joint with her husband Vladimir Borschev and other Russian colleagues, is the integration of lexical semantics with formal compositional semantics, and building stronger bridges between Russian and Western linguistics.

Walter W. Powell

Walter W. Powell is presently Professor of Education and affiliated Professor of Organizational Behavior, Sociology and Communication at Stanford University, where he also directs Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR).
