The Euro in the Financial Crisis

CBS gathers European central bank governors to an open podium debate

The euro and the financial crisis will be the main theme when three central bank governors from France, Germany and Denmark meet at CBS on 22 March.

As the seriousness of the financial crisis became apparent, some European governments started calling for a new global financial system that could prevent such crisis from happening again.

Subsequently, the European Commission has started drafting reform elements of the EU framework for financial supervision. The new framework comprises supervision at both micro (involving individual financial institutions) and macro (involving the financial system as a whole) levels. It will entail the creation of new financial institutions as well as new regulatory framework assessing the role of the Euro.

In collaboration with the Embassy of France and the Embassy of Germany, CBS’ International Center for Business and Politics has arranged an open podium debate on the Euro and the financial crisis with three central bank governors from France, Germany and Denmark, respectively.

The keynote speakers are:
