CBS and CFA join forces

CBS was the preferred choice of CFA, who was searching for a partner in the North. This new liaison is especially going to strengthen the Department of Finance and the Department of Accounting and Auditing, as the aim of the partnership is to move CBS and the students closer to global finance.

Skilled CBS students are now able to apply for one of the five scholarships for the popular CFA programme. CBS and the CFA Institute have joined forces, and the charter of CFA sets the 'global gold standard'. The CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) title is used for people who have completed the three-year programme offered by CFA and who work with investment for a living.

CBS is the best

When looking for new partners, the CFA Institute only pursues the best business schools in the world. Choosing CBS as the first Nordic partner was obvious, says Keld Lundberg Holm, CEO of the Danish Society of Financial Analysts and CFA Denmark.

”CFA Institute has had a wish to form a close collaboration with an educational institution with a high and international academic profile, and CBS is training the investment professionals of the future. Our Danish associations have had a strong relation to CBS for years. Many of CBS' professors are working hard in our committees and our board, says Keld Lundberg Holm.

Partnership gives scholarships and access to the USA

In USA, investment people are obligated to take an ethics course. That course is also an important element in the CFA programme. Between 5 and 10 graduates from the economy and finance programmes are taking the CFA programme each year, as it improves their global career opportunities, says Johannes Mouritsen, Senior Associate Professor from the Department of Accounting and Auditing. He has been coordinating the CFA programme in Denmark for the past 10 years.

”The CFA programme is created by practitioners for practitioners at a demanding academic level. When a graduate has a CFA exam, people from the whole world knows that he/she is trained in finance analysis and is experienced within the financial sector. CBS is also interesting to the CFA Institute, because they prepare already skilled students for an international career", he says,
