Chinese Martial Art __Strategies as a Means to Cope with Stress and Pressure in Western Societies

Thursday, February 26, 2009 - 17:30 to 19:00

This session provide some information about the application of Chinese martial art strategies to daily life stress and pressure in the Western society. In daily life, people are facing packed schedules with work, family, friends, shopping, fetching children at kindergarten, cleaning the house, TV, mobile phones, e-mails, and other social commitments etc. Constantly, people must take responsibility and make decisions. The constant pressure might cause stress, and the pressure might cause conflicts with other people. The question is how can we deal with all the responsibilities and decisions? How do we deal with other people when the pressure at work increases? How do we deal with our own anger? How do we deal with other people’s anger – like when the customer or the boss is furious? How do we deal with our own fear in such situations? Chinese martial art concerns the ability to walk into uncertain situations and the ability to be under pressure. This session will link Chinese martial arts strategies to the daily life situations, and there will be given some answers to the questions raised here.
