Public Lecture with professor Chantal Mouffe
Chantal Mouffe is a political theorist and professor of political theory at the University of Westminster. Mouffe is the editor and author behind numerous publications, recently The Democratic Paradox (Radical Thinkers). She is currently elaborating a non-rationalist approach to political theory; formulating an 'agonistic' model of democracy. At the public lecture, she will elaborate on her approaches to the concept of the Political, in particular in relationship to her ongoing engagement with the work of Carl Schmitt, antagonism, agonism, pluralism, liberalism, and the democratic. Furthermore she will indicate her understanding and analyses of current political developments, the future of the political and the institutions, practices of representative democracy, and indeed of the state, particularly in Europe, post-financial crisis.
