Inaugural Lecture - Susanne Stormer

Susanne Stormer, Adjunct Professor, Vice President, Corporate Sustainability, Novo Nordisk will share her reflections from two decades of learning at the intersection between the worlds of business and academia. As a practitioner, she has found inspiration in theories and illustrative models. As a would-be academic, she has shared insights from 'the real world' in classrooms. Paying tribute to those who have inspired her through her professional career, she will illustrate the value of such cross-pollination as a catalyst for innovation and call for a culture that nurtures the ability to constantly challenge conventional thinking.

Susanne Stormer is Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Novo Nordisk. She sets the strategic direction for the company’s positioning as a sustainability leader and a pioneer in demonstrating the long-term business value of incorporating economic, social and environmental perspectives into its market proposition. She and her team are charged with the overall management of corporate sustainability-driven programmes, the integrated Annual Report, engagements with stakeholders in the professional sustainability community, and for communicating the value of the company’s Triple Bottom Line (TBL) business principle.

Susanne joined the Novo Group in 2000 to ingrain the TBL approach in the business as the lens for decision-making. Among her achievements are the successful integration of the company’s financial and sustainability reporting. She is member of the working group for the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), member of the board of The Sustainability Forum Zurich and CSR Europe, and member of the Steering Group for the UN Global Compact LEAD initiative and for the Global Business Initiative on Human Rights.
Susanne Stormer holds an MA in English Studies and a BA in East Asian Area Studies from Aarhus University. Subsequent credentials include the Cambridge Sustainability Leadership Programme, the Stanford Executive Programme and the Harvard Business School Executive Programme, Innovating for Sustainability.

From 1993 – 2006 Susanne Stormer was a lecturer and an associate professor at CBS.
Susanne Stormer will be Adjunct Professor affiliated with the Department of Intercultural Communication and Management and CBS Center of Corporate Social Responsibility.
