How culture plays a role in society, Danish business research on our southern neighbour, and the importance of e-commerce on distribution are just some of the topics that will be discussed at events at CBS in November.

Why is the creation of art and culture essential to the future?
This is just one of the key issues at the SACRE conference on Monday 24 November. SACRE is an initiative focusing on rethinking the role of art and culture in human life and the community of society. The theme of the conference is "Det umuliges mulighed" (The possibility of the impossible) and among the speakers will be Peter Høeg, Author, Kasper Holten, Director of Opera, Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen, Rector, etc.

Danish business research focus on Germany
In early November, Copenhagen Business School and the Danish-German Industrial and Trade Club will host the event 'Tyskland i Dansk Erhvervsforskning' (Germany in Danish business research). Olaf Iversen, Deputy Ambassador with the German Embassy, will open the programme where CBS researchers will cover entrepreneurship, the termination of Deutschland AG, the effect of women quotas on male managers, etc.

The effect of internet commerce on value chains and logistics
The 6th Copenhagen Supply Chain Management (SCM) conference will focus on business models in e-commerce and which challenges new technology poses for distribution. Leading researchers in value chain management will discuss how the massive growth in internet commerce in recent years has contributed to making the last links of the value chain even more important. Jim Stock, Professor at the University of South Florida, will be keynote speaker at the conference.
In the afternoon, there will be a prize for this year's best thesis from the MSc programme in Supply Chain Management.

Why are the Chinese coming to Europe?
Attend a book launch and gain insight into China's advance into Europe, when Christina Boutrup, Author, shares the main points from her new book Den røde løber – Kinas fremmarch i Europa (The red carpet - China's advance into Europe). Nis Høyrup Christensen, CBS researcher and former China advisor to Danish Industry, will talk about the new Chinese competitors on the market. Monica Reib, partner and co-head of Bech-Bruun's Chinese desk, and Erik Christensen, president of Nyborg Municipality's China committee, will also speak at the event, which will be rounded off with a round of questions and an opportunity to network over a drink.

CBS’ Department of Finance turns 75
Therefore the department would like to invite everyone to an anniversary event on Friday 7 November. Søren Hvidkjær, Head of Department, will give a welcome speech before Kurt Jacobsen and Michael Møller, both professors at the department, take the floor and talk about the development  of the department since 1939. After the speeches, the Department of Finance will host a wine reception.
