Center for Corporate Governance at Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant PostDoc position within the area of Financial Regulation. The position is designed for an academic candidate with an outstanding potential at an early stage of the academic career wishing to specialize in the field of Financial Regulation. The postdoc is a non-tenured position with research obligation for a 3 year period starting from 1 December 2015. 

The Postdoc is expected to contribute to a new, interdisciplinary research project involving the impact from new EU regulation, but would also have to focus on the impact from the globalization of financial markets on the design of rules and practices. The project is unique in the Nordic context and will provide excellent career development opportunities. The Postdoc candidate will work closely with and under guidance of Professor Georg Ringe and will be based at the Center for Corporate Governance.

The successful candidate will be someone with a doctorate in law or in economics, or who possesses an equivalent research record and an appropriate research output.

CCG, Center for Corporate Governance

CCG is a multidisciplinary center with a total of 16 researchers including six professors, and it is the largest of its kind in Europe. It has a strong research tradition especially in the area of quantitative studies and has a strong research network in Europe, US and Asia.

CCG is part of the Department of International Economics and Management (INT) at Copenhagen Business School. Core research areas of the Department are International Business, Emerging Markets, Asia Studies, and Corporate Governance. Historically, core research areas of CCG are Corporate Governance and Corporate Performance,  Industrial Foundations, Board Work, and Stock Markets and Financial Regulations.

It is the ambition of the Department to be in the international frontline in these research areas; to publish research results in leading international journals; to have an excellent research environment; to seek synergy between research and teaching, and to have a strong partnership with the business community.

Duties

The Postdoc candidate will be a member of CCG. He or she will be part of a lively and intellectually stimulating research community which performs to the highest international levels in research and publications and will have access to the excellent research facilities that CBS offers.

The Postdoc candidate will be expected:

• To undertake research in the area of financial regulation and to identify and develop lines of original enquiry in their chosen field and seek external research funding to support them
• To produce for publication articles and/or a monograph based on their doctoral or other research
• To take an active part in the work of the CCG under the direction/supervision of senior members

Qualifications

To be eligible to apply for the position, candidates should:

• be at an early stage of an academic career, at post-doctoral level or with an equivalent research record and an appropriate research output, or
• be aspiring to an academic career and have career development needs which could reasonably be met by the scheme

Selection Criteria
To be successful, candidates will also need to demonstrate that they meet the following selection criteria:

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of financial regulation acquired through academic study and/or legal practice
• Possess a doctorate or demonstrate equivalent academic achievement
• Outstanding promise in their field
• Have the ability or potential to develop current research by faculty members in financial regulation and general interest in the financial industry
• Have the ability or potential to produce published work which will make a significant contribution to knowledge and/or debate in the field
• Have an informed interest in the full range of academic duties and in progressing to an academic post, whether at CBS or elsewhere
• Commitment to their own professional development, and
• Fluency in the English language
