The NEPSUS project, which is to be carried out in collaboration with the University of Dar es-Salaam, is scheduled to run from April 2016 to March 2020. The project is headed by Professor Stefano Ponte, Department of Business and Politics, CBS, along with Associate Professor Adriana Budeanu and Assistant Professor Lasse Folke Henriksen.

The project description states:
“In connection with the increased focus on sustainability in developing countries, more complex partnerships have arisen, and the goal of the NEPSUS project is to create a greater understanding of these partnerships.”

The NEPSUS project will examine partnerships in three key sectors involving natural resources in Tanzania: wildlife, coastal resources and forestry. The level of activity is high in precisely these sectors, which apart from experiencing innovation, are also vital to the survival of rural districts. Tanzania is viewed as an ideal case for studying the effects of new partnerships based on sustainability as the research project is expected to generate knowledge on the types of partnerships that lead to the best sustainable results.
