Language is the key to business success

Even though several language programmes have been closed over the past months at Danish Universities, CBS still has a strong interest in delivering qualified, research-based programmes with a strong language element.

At CBS, you can still apply for admission to programmes with German, Spanish, French, Chinese and English.

Annisette Martini has chosen a bachelor programme with a language focus (BA in Intercultural Market Communication). The programme has given her a lot of exciting opportunities.

“I chose CBS because I wanted to study communication that can cross borders and cultures – in practice and in theory. I would like to be able to work globally, which means that an in-depth knowledge of culture, communication AND a high proficiency is essential” says Annisette.

Besides taking a BA at CBS, where practical use of the English language is key, Annisette went to Oxford Brookes University on exchange to practice what is preached: Train language skills while getting smarter.

“I chose to go to Oxford Brookes to add subjects to my courses at CBS that are not offered at bachelor level at CBS while training my language skills”, Annisette says. “You meet people from all over the world, people with English as their first language as well as people with English as a second language, like me. This means that you speak English 24-7.
Also, it’s a good exercise to take an exam in the British way, where most people had English as their first language – you can’t do that in Copenhagen.”

“I really like to study at CBS. Getting a degree that has a language as well as an international focus is exciting. When huge parts of the programme are taught in English you get closer to your dream job”, Annisette concludes. She is now starting to write her bachelor project and would like to apply for MSc in Communication at CBS in September.

CBS’ language programmes
At CBS, language studies are not just English grammar and phonetics. Annisette studies BA in Intercultural Market Communication (IMK) with English and one focus is on professional communication in an intercultural setting using English in practice.

Besides IMK (which is partly taught in Danish) CBS is still offering programmes with foreign language features - namely BSc in Business, Language and Culture (with French, Spanish or German), BSc in Business, Asian Language and Culture (with Chinese) and BA in European Business with English and BA in English and Organisational Communication.
