PhD defence: Patrick Bennett
This Ph.D. thesis, entitled “Essays in Education, Crime, and Job Displacement”, examines the determinants and social implications of education, crime, and job displacement. The first chapter assesses whether education is equally effective in lowering crime for all individuals. The second chapter examines the individual level relationship that exists between unemployment and crime. The third chapter assesses, both theoretically and empirically, the potential explanations behind the educational gap existing between natives and immigrants.
