'Strategy and identity – integrating the past and the future?'
Talk by alumna and CBS Professor Majken Schultz
Get behind the scenes of the research that CBS alumna and Professor Majken Schultz is involved with at this year's Academy of Management. Gain insight into how organizations define their time horizons, whether they point towards the past or the future, and how that influence their way of operating. Based on a study on the interplay between strategy and identity over 17 years in Carlsberg, learn why it often is easier for managers to create commitment among employees to a distant past than to a near future. For this talk, learn also how we know if our perceived past is 'authentic' and whether it matters.
'Strategic management - external knowledge use and the drivers of innovation speed'
Talk by CBS Professor Keld Laursen
How quickly does your organisation make use of external knowledge and apply it for innovation? Get behind the scenes, when Professor Keld Laursen presents his most recent study on the organisational determinants of firm’s abilities to transform external knowledge quickly into own knowledge production. Based on a study on 113 global pharmaceutical firms, Keld Laursen will outline the drivers of innovation speed, by which firms can rapidly assimilate and apply external knowledge in the context of technological innovation.
