The Unveiling of Michael Kvium's sculpture SOCIAL PATTERN
CBS wants to integrate art in teaching, research and learning environment. Kvium’s sculpture, which has been cast in bistre, patinated bronze, has been mounted on one of the atrium pillars at the Wedge. With this prominent place in this beautiful common area, the sculpture can be experienced by everyone who enters the building. The sculpture is titled “SOCIAL PATTERN” and is a structure of continuous body-shaped figures, starting at the top of the concrete pillar and moving down and around it, connected in an intestine-like system. According to Michael Kvium, the sculpture is an indirect reflection of our perception of ourselves and our deeply embedded need to emphasise the difference between “them” and “us”.
