Louise Thomsen speaks to Klimabevægelsen
Louise Thomsen, centre manager at CBS Sustainability and project manager at VELUX Endowed Chair in Corporate Sustainability, spoke to Klimabevægelsen (the Climate Movement) January 31. Louise spoke about ‘joining the young people at the table’ inspired by Greta Thunberg and her speech to FN where she said, “You are never too small to make a difference.”
In her speech to Klimabevægelsen, Louise said, “We must talk about the young people because they are the most overlooked resource, especially when it comes to the climate debate. No one can be more motivated than young people to ensure that we move towards a more sustainable future. Therefore, we need to talk about the need to include the young voice. Because when we overlook the young, we overlook new ideas and perspectives, new ways of thinking and acting. We have more than ever needed new ways of thinking and acting. If we are to challenge the status quo, we need the courage to change as young people can contribute with.”
“Imagine how we could change the world if we engaged and involved the youth. If we did not just involve the young people because the young generation should be crossed, but if we actually invited the young people to the table as a completely natural thing. If we not only involved the young, but also inspired us by the curious approach to trying things out, which often characterize the young generation. Last summer, CBS held its first sustainable conference with waste sorting, no plastic bottles, vegetarian catering and no food waste. I saw the conference as much more present, with 200 conference participants who went to the new initiatives with great dedication and curiosity.”
