Professor Henrik Lando at CBS LAW participated in a two-day symposium on relational contracts this summer. The symposium was organized by World Commerce & Contracting, Centre for Corporate Reputation, Saïd School of Business, University of Oxford, the Stigler Center, University of Chicago, the Becker-Friedman Institute, and University of Chicago. The first day involved practitioners discussing how they use contracts and relationships to further cooperation between and within firms. As one of the main attractions, the inventor Uğur Şahin, who, with his wife Özlem Türeci, developed the Pfizer vaccine and explained how trust-based contracting enabled a successful collaboration with the Pfizer company. On the second day, academics discussed how to improve on relational contracting, and Nobel Prize winner in economics, Harvard Professor Oliver Hart, gave a talk on his recent work on how to activate social norms in contracting. Professor Henrik Lando served as the discussant of that talk in front of a distinguished group of internationally leading academics. You can read about the symposium here:
